Dann lost his brother Michael before he was born, this led to Dann and his sister Kristina doing a penny drive for Variety Club Telethon at age five. The lights, the camera, the excitement that was it he was hooked. Dann continued to volunteer for variety club until age 18, even being an onstage supervisor for the telephone operators. Dann also got to see many sounds checks as a child while his dad stage handed for various bands including the hit band Simon Kaos, it really was the smooth operation of a live television feed though that captivated Dann. Growing up in the 80's and 90's Dann was able to see some of the finest special effects in feature films and fell in love with Rock concerts having attended many concerts and festivals in every genre. one thing that he noticed was special effect was a great part of the enjoyment for him personally. About 12 years old his dad and stepmom had run into an effects guy they knew working on the television show Viper. This was the first time Dann witnessed film pyrotechnics; not just one blast but sparks or explosions for multiple takes. This certainly interested him as a young boy. This was a year before Dann was taken to see his first live KISS show. Soon after while Dann was being fostered, he struck a conversation with a carnival owner to see if he could sell their cotton candy for commission, this led to summers for 6 years traveling with Fraser Amusement setting up for Live stage events as well as carnival rides and games. At 14 years old Dann laid his first length of C way and knew it certainly would not end there. Throughout his teenage years he would spend a great deal of his earnings seeing any big concert or attending as many functions as possible often just taking in who and how the show operated.

Dann's Family were some of the first to sell glow sticks in all of Canada and he would attend any and all fireworks show they could to sell "light ropes", as soon as the show would start, he would be dragged back to the vehicle to count cash and stock. every time this occurred Dann would say that one day, he would light the shows off so he wouldn't be allowed to leave. Though Dann had these dreams he also started his trade and family with beautiful wife Tara (whom he met in Grade 6) and purchasing a home and a stable career were important. Though in October 2012 all that changed when he lost his eye. after Dann received his Robotic eye, he realized two things. First that he had just survived off no money and second that his life could end tomorrow. these two things allowed for the courage needed to chase a career. While managing Roosters Country Cabaret facilities and operations Dann was offered and opportunity to chase his dream and worked his first day in film on the first Fox X Files revival. Dann went on to get majority of his days in special effects for IATSE 891 on once upon a time. he has worked for all the major studios and currently also serves as the union chair for IATSE 891 SpFX, and first assistant at Digital And Live Entertainment
